One Middleton man got the surprise birthday present of a lifetime from a winning Idaho Lottery Powerball ticket! By his own admission, Scott says he plays the Lottery only occasionally.

“I’m not much of a gambler. My wife, though, she plays all the time. She loves scratch games, and buys a couple of raffle tickets each year, so it was not too much of a surprise she got me a Powerball ticket with PowerPlay for my birthday,” explained Scott.

A few days after his birthday, Scott asked his wife if she had checked the Powerball ticket to see if it had won. When she did, she was stunned.

“It said we needed to take the ticket to the Lottery office to claim it. So, we tried to figure out how much we’d won,” explained Scott. “I thought it was $50,000.”

Unaware of the true size of his prize, Scott brought his ticket to the Lottery office in Boise expecting to claim $50,000. That’s when his birthday present took on a whole new meaning and he got the surprise of a lifetime. When the ticket was claimed, it showed Scott had won $100,000!

“It’s like I won the Lottery!” exclaimed Scott when he realized the full amount of his prize.

Scott’s winning ticket matched four of the first five numbers and the Powerball. The ticket also included the PowerPlay feature, which multiplies non-jackpot winning tickets based on a number selected for that draw. This number was two, turning Scott’s ticket into a $100,000 winner. The winning ticket was sold at a Jacksons ExtraMile in Middleton.

With the unexpected additional winnings, Scott said his plans include helping each of his children a little and saving the rest.
