Rathdrum Man is $25,000-a-Year Lucky for Life Winner

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

BOISE, Idaho – Nathan Hansen, a longtime resident of Rathdrum, experienced some holiday magic from the Idaho Lottery by winning a prize that will keep on giving for years to come.

The father of two, and a cable man for 17 years, has played the same numbers on the Idaho Lottery’s game Lucky for Life for the last five years. His persistence finally paid off when he won the game’s $25,000 a year for life prize a few days before Christmas.

“I had two winning tickets. The first one I scanned showed as “Claim at Lottery” so I set that one aside,” explained Hansen. “My second ticket was accidentally one number different from the first ticket and it was a $200 winner. That’s when I started to figure out maybe I’d won something even bigger on the first ticket!”

He checked again and realized he’d won the second-tier prize of $25,000 a year FOR LIFE.

“I called my parents. I called my two girls. They were wondering why I was so emotional on the phone,” he added.

Hansen bought his winning ticket from the Super 1 Foods in Rathdrum. He plans to use his winnings to pay off his mortgage. He also plans to continue playing his same numbers, confident “they will hit again someday!”
