New Plymouth Man Wins $100,000 on Lottery and Faith

BOISE, Idaho ÔÇô Brian Olson of New Plymouth is a firm believer in his faith and had made a solemn promise that if he won the Lottery he'd pay off pay off his house, his car, and his debts. Being a regular lottery player, he held up his end of the bargain and bought a few tickets.

Late Tuesday, after buying and winning on a few different Lottery Scratch tickets, Olson decided to try the brand new Scratch GameTM Lucky Tables that had only been released to the public the day before. He bought the first two tickets in a new pack at Lowell's Mini Market in New Plymouth. Ticket number 2 correctly matched the game's lucky symbols and Olson at first thought he'd only won his $10 back. Then he noticed he hadn't finished scratching the ticket over the prize amount. When he did, he was shocked when he saw what the prize actually was.

"I stared at it 10 times and kept checking it. Finally I took it back into Lowell's and had it checked. They told me I needed to go to Boise because it looked like I'd won $100,000," described Olson, a former U.S. Army mechanic who runs his own shop now in Payette County. "If you believe in faith, faith can move mountains."

"We live a simple, good life, in a great community with great family and great friends," added Olson. "We'll pay off our house and my wife's car because that's the solemn promise I made if I won big. There won't be much left, but we won't owe anyone anything. We'll be debt free."

For their part in selling the big winning ticket, Lowell's Mini Market receives a $12,000 bonus from the Idaho Lottery.
