FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
BOISE, Idaho – There’s an expression that goes, “Some people have all the luck,” and then there are folks like Mark Wood of Nampa who save-up all their luck over the course of a year and then win $1,000,000 on a scratch ticket from the Idaho Lottery.
“I hadn’t bought a scratch ticket in a year,” said Wood when he claimed the first $1,000,000 top prize on the Idaho Lottery’s Scratch Game, Mega Bucks. “A buddy of mine had been playing this game, so yesterday when I was looking for something to do, I thought I’d give it a try. So, I bought just one.”
After playing the game, Wood couldn’t believe it. “I thought I was going to have a heart attack. I wore the ticket out with my eyes looking over it and checking it again and again. I didn’t get a lot of sleep either.”
Wood is a third-generation Idaho family business owner with his brothers in Nampa. “I never thought I’d win something like this. I won $100 on a Powerball ticket once, but that was it. This has a lot more zeroes to it,” he added.
Wood said he is working with a financial advisor but might also take an extended vacation with his winnings. He purchased his winning Mega Bucks ticket from the Stinker Store in Nampa on 12th Street. For selling the winning ticket, Stinker Stores receives a bonus of $20,000.
Mega Bucks is the Idaho Lottery’s first-ever, $50 Scratch ticket. This was the first $1,000,000 top prize in the game. There is one more top prize of $1,000,000 still available to win.
