Hill Air Force Base Group Wins $1,000,000 Powerball Prize Sold in Malad

BOISE, Idaho ÔÇô Nicknamed "Dreams Recalculated," a group of nine co-workers from the 75th Medical Group at Hill Air Force Base in Layton, Utah, lived up to the group's namesake today when they claimed a $1,000,000 Powerball prize from a ticket purchased in Malad, Idaho for last Saturday night's draw.

ÔÇïThe group's leaders Ju Nare Cope from Ogden, Utah and Michelle Allgaier from South Weber, Utah started their office pool in late March of this year. After matching the first five numbers, but not the Powerball on Saturday night, news that the group had won big spread quickly.

ÔÇï"On Monday morning we knew we'd won a big prize when we matched those first five numbers, we just didn't know how much it was at first," said Cope. "Then 'miss eye-spy Michelle' went on the Internet and found out we had won one million dollars. That news spread like wildfire. The office was electric!"

Allgaier used the Idaho Lottery's "Pool Party" interactive website dedicated to educating players interested in starting an office pool to get information for starting "Dreams Recalculated." She made sure the group's paperwork, rules, and participation were all in order.ÔÇï

ÔÇï"We did a lot of research, made every one of our participants sign contracts, and then everyone put in $10 once every five weeks," explained Allgaier on the group's meticulous planning process. "We've only spent $450 on tickets since starting the group around the time of that big Mega Millions jackpot."

ÔÇï"That's right, only $450 to win $111,111 each? I'm good, I've got no complaints," added Cope.

ÔÇïJoining Cope and Allgaier in Boise to claim the group's prizes were Paulene Coleman also of Ogden, Candy Davis from Clinton, Utah, Marty Kessler from Clinton, Utah, and Curtis Sanders from Layton, Utah. Three other players, Helen Frazier from Willard, Utah, Joyce Kenney from Mountain Green, Utah, and Christy Snow from Hill AFB, Utah, were also claimants.

ÔÇïMost of the group plan to invest their winnings and pay down debts. In addition, Cope, Allgaier, and Candy Davis are planning trips to Hawai'i with their winnings.

ÔÇïThe winning ticket was sold at Thomas Market in Malad, Idaho. For their part in selling the winning ticket, Thomas Market will receive a bonus from the Idaho Lottery for $20,000.

This is Idaho's fourth seven figure winner on Powerball since mid-June. The Powerball jackpot for Saturday night's draw is an estimated $80,000,000.ÔÇï
