CDA Chef Wins $100,000 on Lottery Scratch Ticket

ÔÇïBOISE, Idaho ÔÇô Gold has been discovered in northern Idaho! Sean Christiansen of Coeur d'Alene has caught some Idaho Lottery gold fever thanks to a $100,000 winning "Gold Rush" Scratch ticket he cashed in at the Lottery on Thursday.

A chef at the Coeur d'Alene Resort Golf Course, Christiansen received a rare $10 tip when he finished his shift Monday night. After getting some gas from his regular store, the corner Tesoro at 2301 E. Sherman, he took his $10 tip and bought one of his favorite Idaho Lottery Scratch games ÔÇô "Gold Rush".

"I didn't play it until around 9:30 Monday night when I got home. I play the game frequently enough to know I had won, and kept saying 'Oh my gosh, Oh my gosh' when I realized how much I'd won," he explained from the Idaho Lottery Winners Lobby in Boise. "It was pretty late, but I called my family and got everybody up!"

All his family went over to his house to see the ticket. He and his father Jack then took the ticket back to Tesoro where they learned they needed to visit Boise to claim the game's top prize of $100,000.

"I guess I'm going to have to quit razzin' him about buying lottery tickets now," joked Jack, who joined his son in Boise at Lottery Headquarters.

For their part in selling the winning ticket, Tesoro will receive a bonus from the Idaho Lottery for $12,000.

Christiansen, who has lived in Coeur d'Alene for 21 years and started working at the Resort Golf Course kitchen four years ago, said he didn't have any immediate plans for his new found fortune, but thought he might get himself a "new ride" and would definitely invest in an education bond for his young son.
