FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
BOISE, Idaho – Longtime Idaho Lottery player Allan Carlson from Kearns, Utah, celebrated his 62nd birthday at Boise Towne Square with a Big Spin win of $60,000 on Monday. The crowd of family, friends, and onlookers sang Allan “Happy Birthday” before he took his turn at the Big Spin Wheel. According to Carlson, the timing of his win could not be better for him and his wife, Renita. For the past two years, Renita, has been battling major health issues, including breast and colon cancer.
“Life has been terrible,” said a very thankful Carlson. “This has been a miracle, I gotta admit.”
“We’ve been through a lot and this is a real godsend,” said Renita, battling back tears. She is having colon cancer surgery in ten days. “I’m a big advocate for preventative screening. We are going to survive this. We will never give up.”
Carlson became the Idaho Lottery’s fifth Big Spin top prize winner and the first from Utah. His winning ticket was purchased from the Chat ‘n Chew in Malad. For selling the winning ticket, Chat ‘n Chew receives a bonus from the Idaho Lottery of $6,000.
The Big Spin has been the most popular $5 Scratch Game in Idaho Lottery history. The game is currently 70% sold and has one top prize left. The Idaho Lottery has ordered a second edition of the game which will be available to players in mid-October.
