Boise Man Wins $200,000 from Ticket Sold at Lucky Nampa Maverik

BOISE, Idaho ÔÇô The Maverik Store situated on Karcher Road has long been known as one of the luckiest locations for Idaho Lottery players. Late yesterday afternoon, a man from Boise who was heading to Nevada claimed the fifth, six-figure winning ticket sold from this lucky retail store.

John Tucher was on his way to visit family in Nevada when he took a quick detour into the Maverik on the edge of Nampa. He purchased three High Stakes Casino Scratch tickets and quickly played them.

"I had no idea that I had the winning ticket," said Tucher, who said he was going to toss the tickets out, but decided to use the Idaho Lottery's Check-a-Ticket app to be certain. "It wasn't until I scanned them using the Check-A-Ticket app that I knew I had won, but I didn't know how much."

His ticket was the final $200,000 top prize ticket on the Scratch Game High Stakes Casino. Once he discovered how much he had won, Tucher delayed his trip to Nevada and returned to Boise and Lottery offices to claim his prize. By claiming this winner, the game is now officially ended.

"I didn't want to drive to Nevada with that big of a winning ticket," confessed Tucher.

Tucher plans to spend his winnings supporting his family and might get his dream car.

Previous wins for this Maverik location include $200,000 and $600,000 Powerball wins in 2008, an Idaho $1,000,000 Raffle win in 2010, and a $250,000 Mega Millions winner in 2012.

Tucher is not available for comment. He's traveling to Nevada.
