One Sunday afternoon in February, Kristine Lawson from Emmett decided on a whim to stop into the Chevron of Emmett, cash two winning scratch tickets, and then pick up one ticket for her favorite InstaPlay game - $10 Cash Spot.
“I was driving and I just felt that I needed to stop and get a ticket,” she described. “I don’t usually play the Lottery at that store, but there was just something about stopping right then.”
The impulse was a good one. When she purchased her ticket, she saw it was a winner. She asked the clerk at the store to scan the ticket to see how much. The clerk told her she needed to take her ticket to the Lottery offices in Boise. That was on the Sunday before Presidents Day weekend. Lottery offices were closed on Monday in observance of the holiday.
“The clerk couldn’t tell me how much I’d won. And by the time I looked on the website, the jackpot amount had re-set. So I didn’t know how much it was,” she said, saying that she looked back through her previous tickets and realized that jackpot was over $80,000. “I just said, ‘Holy crap’! when I realized it was that much. I’ve been a nervous wreck, hanging on to this ticket for two days!”
Kristine said her win of $87,025 came at the right time in her life. A year ago, she had to leave her place of employment to take care of relatives who were ill and had been in a serious car accident. She plans to pay off bills, replace her old van, and be ready to start work again now with a fresh start that celebrates life, her family, and her grandchildren.
Cash Spot is a linked Jackpot InstaPlay game. The jackpot for the $10 version of the game begins at $10,000 and grows with each ticket sold until it is won.
